Supplementary skillsWhen I’m not executing targeted email campaigns or preparing digital and print materials for conferences, I’m working on anything and everything else that comes my way: photography, website updates, analytics and metrics, and more.
Creativity is key
Photography
As the bar's primary photographer, I am responsible for coordinating our second-shooters, organizing shot lists, and editing and publishing all the photos taken. Each spring and fall, those who passed the bar exam and are admitted to the bar attend enrollment ceremonies, where I capture all the emotion of the day on camera. I ensure every lawyer and their family members feel seen, and I congratulate the new lawyers on their admission. These are some of our most well-received photos of the year, and I am proud to say that many of the photos I’ve taken have ended up as lawyers’ profile pictures online.
Beyond enrollment ceremonies, I am responsible for capturing content at all of our conferences. These photos are used for marketing and promotion, but also for engagement between the bar and its members. At the Annual Meeting, I have the crucial job of capturing all award winners when they take the stage, and coordinating and distributing photos of our senior class of lawyers with the bar’s president and the chief justice.
I also had the honor of being asked by the Supreme Court to photograph the investiture of one of the new Supreme Court justices.
Website
Although website building and page creation weren't something I thought I'd work on as a young copywriter, I've grown into my role as a web designer at the bar. I transformed our Annual Meeting landing page from one with over 15 different links leading to even more distinct pages to a single page with a handful of tabs to navigate from. This overhaul made it much easier for lawyers to navigate the site, and the update sparked inspiration for a broader conversation of how we want our website to look and act. Metrics and analytics
With each piece of marketing I deliver, I compile analytics to present to each department on performance. I compare the click and open rates to those of years prior and offer ideas on how to improve. I present this information in an easy to understand manner, ensuring each director feels heard, seen, and involved in the deliverables of their own department.
